Yakima Valley Memorial has been contesting the Washington State Department of Health’s determinations for granting a certificate of need for the procedure since 2009, according to the report.
Currently Yakima residents may seek angioplasties at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, the only hospital in the 93,000-resident town with a certificate of need for angioplasties.
Yakima Valley Memorial filed an antitrust and restraint of trade lawsuit in 2009, which has been repeatedly dismissed and sent back to lower courts, which have sided with the state health department nearly every time.
