University of New Mexico Hospital’s Construction Plans Hinge on State Medicaid Program

The University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque is holding off seeking final approval for the construction of its $146 million hospital until negotiations are completed between the state and federal governments over the state’s new Medicaid program, according to an Albuquerque Journal report.

If approved by the federal government, Centennial Care, the state’s proposed comprehensive Medicaid program, will replace numerous other programs previously used to provide Medicaid services to New Mexicans.

UNMH officials said that they will wait and see if the program gets approved before continuing with its development plans, according to the report.
