After the FTC rejected a planned merger between Smith & White and KDH, an administrator from Seton said Smith & White approached Seton about a possible acquisition, according to the report.
Officials from Smith & White did not name the organization they had contacted, but officials from Seton confirmed that the two companies had entered into due diligence.
Although Smith & White had planned to turn KDH into a pediatric facility, Seton would use the hospital as an acute-care facility or acute complex care hospital, according to the report. Seton had previously approached KDH about a partnership, but that was dissolved after the hospital signed an agreement with Smith & White on Feb. 17.
