The $7 million ED will increase the number of patient rooms from 12 to 14, with two rooms for trauma patients. The hospital outgrew the previous seven-room facility, seeing more than 13,000 ED patients in 2017, according to the hospital.

The facility includes an upgraded cardiac monitoring system and upgraded computers, a call light system on patients’ TVs, two larger nurses’ desks and a physicians’ station.

The hospital aims to become a Level III trauma center in 2018, according to Angie Welch, director of emergency services at RMH.
