New San Francisco General Hospital Breaks Ground

A new $887 million facility to replace San Francisco General Hospital’s current facility recently broke ground, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle.

San Francisco voters approved a bond measure to authorize the building of a new facility for the city’s only trauma center less than a year ago, according to the report.

The new nine-story facility will feature 284 beds and is expected to be completed by 2015 — the deadline for hospitals in the state to meet new seismic requirements.
