A 34-year-old man was arrested for parole violation and a Henderson police officer was sent to Methodist Hospital to guard him. At the hospital, the officer allegedly escorted the man to the restroom to obtain a urine sample. The officer heard the sound of something falling inside the restroom. The man allegedly used the opportunity to climb up into the ceiling, because when the officer went inside, “the only part of Mr. Williams that was visible was his ankle, which was dangling from the ceiling,” Police Lt. John Nevels told The Gleaner.

Eventually, the man allegedly fell through the ceiling in another area of the hospital’s emergency room. The crash injured a hospital employee and two other people.

The man has been charged with “fourth-degree assault, third-degree escape, first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault on a police officer and harassment,” the report notes.
