Hoag Orthopedic Institute (Irvine, Calif.). Hoag Orthopedic Institute was opened in November 2010 when local board-certified orthopedic physicians teamed up with those from Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, Calif. HOI has 317 physicians, including 87 orthopedic surgeons. Since 2012, surgeons at the hospital have performed more hip and knee replacements annually than any other provider in the state of California: In 2015, they performed 1,401 hip replacements and 1,431 knee replacements. HOI was named the No. 3 hospital in the country for major orthopedic surgery by CareChex and among the top 50 hospitals for orthopedic care for 2017. HOI is also a Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Replacement.
