Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the release, but post-transaction, HPP will continue to be led by its founder, Charles Hagood, who will be president of the standalone company. Staff and operations will remain based in its Nashville-area headquarters.

Although HPP will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Broadlane, neither current HPP clients nor prospective ones will need to have a relationship with Broadlane or its GPO services, according to the release.

HPP’s service offerings include:

  • Lean healthcare: Lean healthcare, based off of concepts seen in the manufacturing industry, can eliminate many obstacles to excellence, such as cumbersome information technology systems, worker frustration and inadvertent errors and oversights that can increase patient safety risks. HPP involves client teams in learning, applying, analyzing and making lean healthcare disciplines a regular part of the organization’s operating philosophy.
  • Consulting services: HPP can help healthcare organizations design and implement real solutions that draw on an organization’s collective know-how to deliver results, and HPP uses lean and Six Sigma tools including: value stream mapping, 5-S projects, A3 thinking and lean healthcare Kaizen events.
  • Training services: HPP instructional professionals can provide training to providers on key lean principles and uses customized, ongoing coaching relationships to help sustain and ingrain Lean/Six Sigma culture at healthcare providers. Its reVIEW course trains frontline staff of organizations in lean and problem solving in a “learn by doing” format.
  • Facilities and clinical design services: HPP helps healthcare providers build lean principles directly into the architecture of new or renovated facilities. Similar approaches are applied to a client’s new service offerings, as well as IT system rollouts.
  • Six Sigma Services: HPP can help incorporate Six Sigma methodologies with lean practices to yield organizational gains and drive improvement for more complex, multivariable issues.
  • Conferences and workshops: HPP often conducts conferences and workshops on lean healthcare to teach healthcare providers how to adopt lean principles into their own organizations.
