Boston Scientific Names Michael F. Mahoney CEO and President

Boston Scientific Corp. has announced it has named Michael F. Mahoney as the company’s new chief executive officer and president, according to a news release.

Mr. Mahoney succeeds interim CEO William H. Kucheman.

 

Mr. Mahoney has also been appointed to the Boston Scientific board of directors.

 

“Mike is a dynamic leader, and having him at the helm for the long-term is exactly what Boston Scientific needs,” said Pete Nicholas, chairman of the board and co-founder of Boston Scientific, in the release. “Mike’s ability to foster a team culture focused on winning, his strategic global view, and his passion for innovation have already begun to make a significant impact on the company.”

 

Mr. Mahoney joined Boston Scientific as president in October 2011, and his responsibilities for the past year have focused on the oversight of cardiac rhythm management, endoscopy and other corporate functions. He has more than 24 years of healthcare experience, and previously held leadership positions in companies including Johnson & Johnson, Global Healthcare Exchange and General Electric Medical Systems.
