Beaumont Hospital’s Royal Oak campus is ranked the No. 1 hospital in Michigan and is nationally ranked in cardiology and heart surgery for 2014-15 by U.S. News & World Report. Physicians at Beaumont Hospital perform nearly 115,000 heart procedures and tests annually. The hospital features the Ernst Cardiovascular Center as well as the Ministrelli Women’s Heart Center, the first heart and vascular center in Michigan solely dedicated to women. The hospital also boasts a number of “firsts.” It is the first hospital in the world to develop active and passive fixation of pacemaker leads (1974-75), the only hospital to successfully perform triple valvuloplasty in pregnancy (1991) and the first hospital in Michigan to perform robotic heart surgery (2002).
