The law, signed by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Aug. 6, requires Airbnb and other similar websites to create monthly lists that disclose every host, location, type of rental, duration of rental and money collected by the host and paid to the booking platform.
Airbnb’s lawsuit alleges the host information given to the Office of Special Enforcement could be accessed across city agencies and potentially be requested by any citizen, with the intent of “intimidating New Yorkers into abandoning home-sharing.”
