Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, Ill.). The patient tower at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital was awarded LEED Gold certification by the USGBC in 2010, making it the first hospital in the Midwest to earn this level of LEED recognition. Similar to the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center’s Center for Advanced Care, the Lutheran General patient tower features a rooftop garden. Advocate Lutheran General Hospital participates in all six HHI Challenges and was included in Practice Greenhealth’s Green Building Circle of Excellence, which recognizes facilities whose high-performance achievements include energy and water efficiency, safer materials, regional sourcing, integration of nature and other sustainable mechanisms.
