Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital (Downers Grove, Ill.). Another Practice Greenhealth Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award honoree, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital was recognized with three Circles of Excellence awards in 2015 for its work in leadership, reducing waste and reducing chemicals. Good Samaritan is currently working on a modernization project that will add three stories over the West Pavilion of the existing structure. This addition is proposed to meet the USGBC’s criteria for LEED Silver certification and will feature LED energy-efficient lighting, ultra-low flow plumbing fixtures, high-efficiency heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and other improvements designed to lower energy and water costs for the life of the building.
