Here are the questions:

1. What is the foreseeability of violent crimes against persons on the hospital campus and the surrounding area?
2. What are the attitudes and potential reactions of the community?
3. What are the liability and legal issues surrounding the decision?
4. Is the hospital administration committed to providing training and resources to armed officers to ensure the safest environment for everyone?
5. Are there other options to armed security officers, such as off-duty police officers?

ODS also advises healthcare organizations to carefully evaluate the facts and data surrounding the question of armed security guards before making the decision.
