10 Medicare Advantage plans ranked by member satisfaction

For the third year in a row, Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente topped J.D. Power’s Medicare Advantage plan rankings for member satisfaction.

The J.D. Power 2017 Medicare Advantage Study featured responses from 3,442 members of Medicare Advantage plans nationwide. Policyholder satisfaction scores were measured by six factors, listed in order of importance: coverage and benefits, customer service, claims processing, cost, provider choice and information and communication.

Here 10 Medicare Advantage plans ranked based on member satisfaction, beginning with the highest.  

1. Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, Calif.) 
2. Highmark (Pittsburgh)
3. Humana (Louisville, Ky.)
4. UnitedHealthcare (Minnetonka, Minn.)
5. BlueCross BlueShield of Michigan (Detroit)
6. Aetna (Hartford, Conn.)
7. Health Net (Woodland Hills, Calif.)
8. WellCare (Tampa, Fla.)
9. Cigna HealthSpring (Bloomfield, Conn.)
10. Anthem (Indianapolis)
