Here are four things to know about the telemedicine partnership.
1. UC Davis representatives visited Orchard Hospital to test the program Jan. 19. As part of the partnership, Orchard Hospital physicians and patients will have 24/7 access to remote specialists from UC Davis via video conferencing within two minutes of requesting a consultation.
2. The partnership with Orchard Hospital is part of the UC Davis Pediatric Telemedicine Program. Specialists affiliated with the program — such as emergency medicine physicians, neonatologists and critical care specialists — conduct an average of 2,800 telemedicine consultations each year.
3. UC Davis specialists are available to provide input into a range of conditions, including medication recommendations and overseeing resuscitations.
4. UC Davis plans to conduct test calls each week to ensure the telemedicine equipment at Orchard Hospital is functional.
