Philips has entered into an agreement to acquire SpectraWave, a company specializing in AI-powered coronary intravascular imaging and physiological assessment technologies.

The acquisition includes SpectraWave’s HyperVue imaging system, which combines optical coherence tomography and near-infrared spectroscopy for enhanced vascular imaging, and X1-FFR, an angiography-based, AI-enabled fractional flow reserve tool that provides coronary physiology data from a single angiogram, according to a Dec. 15 news release.

Philips said the deal will expand its current intravascular portfolio, which includes its Eagle Eye Platinum digital intravascular ultrasound catheter and OmniWire iFR technology, and plans to integrate the technologies with its Azurion image-guided therapy platform.
