The Canonsburg, Pa.-based drugmaker will sell a two-pack of the generic epinephrine auto-injectors for $300, a more than 50 percent discount from EpiPen’s $608 list price.

Mylan has faced intense public scrutiny this year over the high price of EpiPens, which only cost $100 per two-pack in 2008, reports Reuters. The drugmaker announced plans to release a generic EpiPen in August as a response to the pricing controversy.

In October, the drugmaker reached a $465 million settlement with the federal government over accusations it improperly classified EpiPens as a generic drug to overcharge Medicaid.
