Medline partners with Potrero Medical: 4 things to know

Northfield, Ill.-based Medline Industries joined forces with San Francisco-based Potrero Medical to expand the commercialization and clinical investigations of the Accuryn critical care monitoring system.

Here are four things to know about the partnership.

1. Accuryn is a urinary catheter that also functions as a diagnostic tool, delivering automated, real-time actionable data on urine output, core body temperature and intra-abdominal pressure, among other measurements.

2. Through the deal, Medline holds long-term exclusivity for the marketing and distribution of Accuryn in North America.

3. Medline will present the technology to intensivists and critical care nurses at the Society of Critical Care Medicine Annual Congress on Jan. 21 to Jan. 25 in Honolulu, according to David Greenberg, executive vice president of strategy and group president at Medline.

4. Accuryn holds market clearance from the Food and Drug Administration and is available for sale in the U.S.
