Medisca Recalls L-Citrulline Products, Cites Lack of L-Citrulline

Plattsburgh, N.Y.-based Medisca has issued a voluntary recall of four lots of L-Citrulline after finding these lots do not contain any L-Citrulline.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported receiving several adverse events following the administration of an affected lot "potentially subpotent" L-Citrulline.

L-Citrulline is used to treat urea cycle disorders, and subpotent levels of L-Citrulline can cause potentially life-threatening high levels of ammonia, according to an FDA report.
