IBM releases supply chain suite with AI, blockchain features

IBM has launched a new supply chain suite that uses Watson Artificial Intelligence and blockchain to help companies make their supply chains smarter and more efficient, according to an Oct. 8 news release.

The IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite leverages blockchain and other technology to make itself a self-correcting chain. Manufacturers and other organizations are encouraged to integrate critical data, business networks and supply chain processes to the suite. Then the management tool will learn from its experience, creating greater reliability, transparency and security.

IBM designed the supply chain suite to be a secured, open platform with hybrid-cloud support. Organizations can tailor the supply chain suite to meet their unique business needs.

A few companies that are already using the Sterling Supply Chain Suite include AmerisourceBergen, Greenworks and Lenovo.

"Supply chains are now mission-critical systems for all businesses to drive success and profitability," said Bob Lord, senior vice president of cognitive applications and developer ecosystems at IBM. "Many organizations have risen to the top of their industries by building efficient and agile supply chains. By modernizing supply chains on top of open, hybrid-cloud platforms and infusing Watson AI, IBM Blockchain and IoT into their networks, the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite can help companies across all industries enter a new era of global competitiveness."
