Flublok Quadrivalent contains three strains of the flu found in the original Flublok vaccine, as well as an additional B strain, according to the report. While most vaccines are commonly made through a process involving chicken eggs, Flublok relies on technology that rearranges genetic material to produce the vaccination.
In a recent clinical study of 9,000 adults age 50 and older, participants who received Flublok Quadrivalent were 40 percent less likely to catch cell-culture confirmed influenza than those who received a different quadrivalent flu vaccine on the market.
