Here are three things to know.

1. The heart valve is intended to treat patients with severe aortic stenosis who have a high or extreme risk for open heart surgery, according to a company news release.

2. The CoreValve Evolut Pro contains several design concepts aimed to prevent blood from leaking through the sides of the valve.

3. Clinicians can use Medtronic’s EnVeo R Delivery Catheter System to insert the heart valve, which can be used for blood vessels as small as 5.5 millimeters.
