During the hearing, Dr. Price said President Donald Trump called on HHS to develop policies to lower drug prices, according to the report.

Dr. Price said he’s tasked CMS, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Health Resources and Services Administration with developing drug price proposals.

He has also held multiple brainstorming sessions with industry stakeholders — including pharmacists, healthcare providers and pharmacy benefit managers — to discuss strategies for lowering drug costs.

“It’s an absolute priority and we look forward to working with anyone who’s interested in holding down or bringing down drug prices for the American people,” Dr. Price told the Senate committee, according to Bloomberg.
