While the Seattle-based online retailer will bring on 120,000 new employees, many of its competitors plan to keep hiring fairly steady. Target will hire 70,000 additional workers — the same number as last year — while Macy’s will hire 83,000 new staff members, a 2,000-employee drop from last year, according to the report.
Amazon said last year it hired 14,000 seasonal workers as full-time employees after the holidays and hopes to boost its permanent workforce again this year.
