A mesothelioma treatment, Zika detection test & 2 more recent FDA approvals

1. Synovasure lateral flow test kit was the first diagnostic test approved to help detect prosthetic joint infections.

2. Novocure is a tumor-treating fields device for the treatment of advanced or metastatic malignant pleural mesothelioma. It is the  first treatment approved for malignant pleural mesothelioma in 15 years. The device was approved in combination with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy.

3. ZIKV Detect 2.0 IgM Capture Elisa is a test that detects Zika virus immunoglobulin antibodies in human blood.  

4. The FDA cleared two tests for extragenital testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea, the Aptima Combo 2 Assay and the Xpert CT/NG. The tests can detect the sexually transmitted infections via the throat and rectum.
