The 1st anticoagulant for pediatric patients, a personal EKG with 6 leads & more: 5 latest FDA approvals

Five recent drugs or medical devices approved by the FDA since May 10:

1. Fragmin is an injection approved to treat potentially life-threatening blood clots in pediatric patients. It is the first anticoagulant for pediatric patients.

2. KardiaMobile 6L is the first six-lead personal electrocardiogram device, which can detect arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation, bradycardia and tachycardia.

3. Aidoc's Pulmonary Embolism solution received FDA clearance. The software uses artificial intelligence to flag and triage cases of pulmonary embolism found in chest CT scans.

4. Bavencio was approved in combination with Inlyta to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma.

5. Venclexta, in combination with Gazyva, was approved for people with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
