Bon Secours Health System Invests in Innovation Institute

Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System has invested in the for-profit Innovation Institute, making it the second member owner of the organization with St. Joseph Health in Orange County, Calif., according to a news release from the institute.

The Innovation Institute, based in La Palma, Calif., provides business services, innovation solutions and investment management services to health systems. It ultimately will have seven health systems as owner members. St. Joseph Health and Bon Secours have secured the first two spots.

"The Innovation Institute is an exciting new venture that we are pleased to be a part of," Richard J. Statuto, president and CEO of Bon Secours Health System, said in the news release. "When we reviewed the business model, it became clear that our health system could benefit immensely from the valuable resources that The Institute offers. As member owners, our healthcare system and our patients will benefit from shared research and development of new products and services."
