Pomerene Hospital traces its beginnings to 1919, when the original Joel Pomerene Hospital Company was comprised of a six-bed women’s ward, a three-bed men’s ward, six private rooms and 10 physicians. The hospital now has more than 55 beds, staffs more than 80 physicians and records 12,000 emergency visits each year. Pomerene Hospital is a top performer on key quality measures from The Joint Commission. The National Organization of State Office of Rural health and iVantage Health Analytics honored Pomerene Hospital in November 2016 for overall excellence in quality, outcomes and financial strength.
