CHI St. Vincent Infirmary (Little Rock, Ark.). As the flagship hospital of CHI St. Vincent Health System, CHI St. Vincent Infirmary has provided the citizens of Arkansas with high quality healthcare for well over a century. CHI St. Vincent Infirmary began as a 10-bed “charity hospital” in 1888 by the bishop of Little Rock, five nuns, seven physicians and Catholic philanthropists Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Hager.

According to U.S. News & World Report, CHI St. Vincent Infirmary admitted 20,393 patients in the latest year for which data is available. Clinicians there performed 8,251 inpatient and 5,737 outpatient surgeries in that year, and the hospital’s emergency room had 35,386 visits. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 1 in Arkansas in 2015-16. In January 2013, the hospital became the first and only hospital in Arkansas to earn recognition for excellence in nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Magnet hospital. The Jack Stephens Heart Institute at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary is equipped with industry technology and medical expertise unparalleled in the state of Arkansas. In 2013, CHI St. Vincent Infirmary was named a Blue Distinction Center+ for cardiac, orthopedic and spine care by Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

In 2009, CHI St. Vincent Infirmary became the first hospital in the nation to partner with Wal-Mart to offer consumers in-store walk-in clinics for basic services like check-ups and immunizations, solidifying its reputation as an early adopter of retail health services.
