Mass General Brigham programs swept research-output rankings across 11 specialties in Doximity’s residency program ratings, which score programs separately on reputation and research.
Doximity builds its reputation score from three years of nomination surveys completed by board-certified physicians in each specialty, while its research output score draws on alumni publications, h-index, grant funding and clinical trial participation over the past decade — each program measured against others in the same field.
Mass General Brigham programs — spanning Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School — topped research output in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, radiology and surgery, among others.
A handful of programs claimed No. 1 in both categories: the University of Pennsylvania’s dermatology and integrated interventional radiology programs, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s preventive medicine program, and Mass General Brigham’s Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital program in psychiatry.
