California is the most innovative state, while Mississippi ranks at the bottom, according to product management consultant TCGen.

The firm measured the level of innovation in all 50 states, analyzing such factors as per-capita research-and-development and capital spending, small businesses created, patent creation rate, and Small Business Administration funding. Also taken into account were access to telehealth, broadband and tech workers.
