Yale University launches biomedical imaging institute

New Haven, Conn.-based Yale School of Medicine, the medical school of Yale University, has established the Yale Biomedical Imaging Institute to advance biomedical imaging research.

The institute will leverage AI and data science to develop novel biomedical imaging technologies while translating those developments to guide diagnostics and therapeutics, according to a June 16 news release from Yale School of Medicine. 

The university has appointed Georges El Fakhri, PhD, to serve as the institute’s director. Chi Liu, PhD, and Dustin Scheinost, PhD, will serve as associate directors of biomedical imaging technologies; Xenophon Papademetris, PhD, will serve as associate director of biomedical imaging data sciences; and Kelly Cosgrove, PhD, will be associate director of biomedical imaging translation.
