Cincinnati Children’s and GE HealthCare announced April 10 a new partnership aimed at advancing innovations in pediatric care delivery.

The collaboration has led to the creation of the Care Innovation Hub, a research program that will drive pediatrics-focused projects in magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, molecular imaging and computed tomography, according to a news release.

For example, one project will “build and test prototypes of high-density MR coil arrays sized appropriately for children, which can help both increase patient comfort and enable more precise images in smaller patients.”

Other initiatives will target gathering early clinician feedback on future GE HealthCare products, including technologies related to positron emission tomography and single photon emission computed tomography.

“With a ‘built for kids’ mission, this collaborative, multi-modality approach aims to further help build understandings and innovations for diagnostic imaging beyond pediatric use cases, as children are often the most challenging patients due to their wide range of sizes and unique positioning challenges,” the release said.
