Which states had the most Leapfrog “A” hospitals?

This fall, 790 hospitals earned an A grade from The Leapfrog Group as part of its latest update of the Hospital Safety Score, but those top-graded hospitals are not distributed evenly throughout the nation.

California has the most hospitals with an A grade, at 108. North Dakota and Washington, D.C., on the other hand, had no hospitals with A grades.

The following are the 10 states with the most Leapfrog A hospitals:

1. California — 108

2. Florida — 76

3. Illinois — 50

3. Texas — 50

5. Massachusetts — 40

6. Ohio — 36

7. New Jersey — 35

8. Virginia — 33

9. New York — 32

10. Pennsylvania — 25
