Survey Finds Integrative Medicine Successful in Treating Pain, Other Conditions

A new study by The Bravewell Collaborative found that the majority of integrative medicine centers report success in treating pain and several other conditions with integrative treatments.The study also found 63 percent of patients seen at integrative medicine centers are self-referred.

The study of 29 integrative centers sought to examine how integrative medicine is practiced across the country.

Other notable findings of the study include:

•    Seventy-five percent of centers reported success using integrative practices to treat chronic pain.
•    More than 50 percent of centers reported positive results for gastrointestinal conditions, depression and anxiety, cancer and chronic stress.
•    The most common integrative interventions include: nutrition, supplements, yoga, meditation, acupuncture and massage.
