The CDC licensed the test’s use by Quest Diagnostics and other select national reference laboratories to help with the response to the Zika virus outbreak.
Antibody tests are most useful two to 12 weeks following the onset of symptoms, while molecular testing is useful up to 14 days after symptom onset.
As of Sept. 14, more than 3,175 people in the U.S. had Zika, according to the CDC.
