The Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association, which represents hospitals in New York’s Lower Hudson Valley, has asked the state to deny the plans for the Memorial Sloan-Kettering outpatient cancer facility in Harrison, N.Y., according to a Journal News report.

NMHA representatives said the proposed $130 million cancer center would be duplicating services in the Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the report said.

The report said Maureen Killackey, medical director and deputy physician-in-chief of New York-based Memorial Sloan-Kettering Regional Care Network, thought the cancer center would be an opportunity to improve healthcare quality in the region and was surprised by the NMHA’s opposition.
