Minneapolis VA Health Care System. Sustainability is part of Minneapolis VA Health Care System’s day-to-day operations, according to the system’s Green Environmental Management Services Coordinator George Johnson, and it shows with its accomplishments. For instance, the system achieved 19.2 percent renewable electricity use in fiscal year 2015, and also increased the use of alternative fuels to 67.9 percent of all fuel in FY 2015, among other accomplishments. This year, Practice Greenhealth named the Minneapolis VA system to its Leadership Circle for its strong infrastructure supporting commitment to healthier environments, and the Climate Circle for its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. The system was also one of Practice Greenhealth’s Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award winners this year.
