Metro Health Hospital (Wyoming, Mich.). Metro Health Hospital is the first full-service hospital in the state to earn LEED certification from the Green Building Council thanks to a number of green building features, including a 48,500-square-foot green roof that minimizes storm water runoff, improves air quality and reduces peak temperatures. It also features motion-sensitive lights and is built from recycled building materials and wood. In addition to being LEED certified, the hospital earned Practice Greenhealth’s Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award this year and is also in the organization’s Less Waste Circle of Excellence thanks to its waist prevention and material handling programs.
