Aspen (Colo.) Valley Hospital. This hospital earned LEED Gold certification in 2014 for its new hospital construction, becoming just the second hospital in the state to earn that designation. It received such high recognition from the USGBC in part because of its access to public transportation, bike storage and changing rooms, water efficient landscaping, enhanced refrigerant management and more. Additionally, the new construction sought compliance with the City of Aspen Canary Initiative, meaning it has a zero carbon footprint.
