Advocate Trinity Hospital (Chicago). This Advocate hospital on the South Side of Chicago established its Green Committee in 2008 to work with the system’s Green Council to build a culture of environmental awareness. In its early years, for instance, the committee helped implement a battery recycling program and planned a steam leak monitoring system to save energy. Years later, the committee’s work has paid off, as Advocate Trinity Hospital earned a Greenhealth Emerald Award from Practice Greenhealth this year. The hospital is also participating in all six Healthier Hospitals Initiative Challenges.
