Around 2 a.m. on Sept. 17, a helicopter from North Memorial was sent to pick up a patient from Alexandria, Minn.-based Douglas County Hospital, according to the Pioneer Press. It crashed on the east side of Lake Winona.
There were no patients on board. However, three individuals — pilot Joshua Jones, flight nurse Scott Scepaniak and flight paramedic Miles Weske — were in the helicopter. They were taken to Douglas County Hospital and later transferred to North Memorial. As of Saturday, they were in critical condition, according to the Pioneer Press.
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
