Jimmy Kimmel’s EpiPen joke calls out high drug prices at Emmys

Jimmy Kimmel cracked a joke during the 2016 Emmy Awards about a topic few are smiling about: high drug prices.

The bit featured Kimmel’s mom, who made 7,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the Emmys’ audience. Kimmel, along with the child actors of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” helped pass out the sandwiches to the audience, reported Romper.

“If you’re allergic to peanuts, uh, well … I guess this is goodbye, because we can only afford one EpiPen,” Kimmel said as he was offering sandwiches to celebrities in the front row.

Canonsburg, Pa.-based Mylan has raised the price of EpiPens by more than 400 percent since 2007. The medication now costs $608 for a pack of two.
