Man shot near Washington D.C. hospital, prompts brief lockdown

A man was shot on public property near the entrance of Washington D.C.-based George Washington University Hospital Tuesday night, reports Fox 5.

The victim walked into the hospital and was conscious and breathing after being shot around 7:47 p.m. The incident prompted a brief hospital lockdown.

“GW Hospital took immediate measures to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and employees. The hospital was briefly placed on lockdown and has now returned to normal operations,” the hospital said in a statement, according to Fox 5.

Police said the shooting was likely the result of a dispute. The victim has not yet been identified, reports NBC Washington.
