Vermont is the best state to have a baby based on healthcare metrics, according to an Aug. 3 list from personal finance website WalletHub.
The ranking was developed by comparing each state and Washington, D.C., by 31 metrics across four areas: cost, healthcare, baby-friendliness and family-friendliness. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale and the ranking was determined using the weighted average.
The ranking below is in order from best to worst states for healthcare, which included metrics such as infant and maternal mortality rates, low or very low food security for babies, quality of women’s hospitals and midwives and OB-GYNs per capita.
