Patient safety expert launches consulting firm: 5 things to know

Patient safety expert Paul Alper recently launched Next Level Strategies, a consulting practice for organizations developing innovative healthcare technologies, products or services.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. Alper serves as founder and chief strategy officer of Next Level Strategies.

2. He previously served as vice president of patient safety strategy and vice president of business development for DebMed from 2008-18, where he oversaw the creation and launch of the DebMed Hand Hygiene Electronic Monitoring System.

3. From 1988-97, Mr. Alper served as vice president and general manager of Provon Medical Group, where he led the launch of Purell in both the hospital and consumer markets.

4. Mr. Alper is also a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology and chair of a Patient Safety Movement Foundation Hand Hygiene Actionable Patient Safety Solution workgroup.

5. He founded Next Level Strategies in 2018 to offer organizations growth strategies and business development road maps to aid in the commercialization of innovative technologies, particularly those relating to infection control and patient safety.

"It's incredibly rewarding to have played a part in pioneering technologies that have made a difference in healthcare quality on a global scale," Mr. Alper said in a statement to Becker's. "I launched Next Level Strategies to help the next generation of evidence-based healthcare innovative technologies, products and services achieve adoption and commercial success in the healthcare market."
