NQF Partnership Makes Recommendations on Performance Measures for Federal Programs

The National Quality Forum announced that the Measure Applications Partnership has submitted recommendations to HHS on performance measures under consideration for federal programs.

MAP aims to align performance measures for public and private programs to minimize reporting burden and ensure the measures are meaningful.

MAP reviewed more than 500 measures under consideration for 20 federal programs in healthcare. In its pre-rulemaking report, MAP supported the immediate application of 141 measures and the direction of an additional 166 measures contingent on further development, testing or NQF endorsement, according to the release. MAP did not support 165 measures and recommended the removal of 64 current measures and the addition of six measures that were not on the list under consideration by HHS.
