No patients were infected from the infestation, but the infestation forced hospital officials to reschedule approximately 200 procedures for infection prevention purposes. Thirty cases that could not wait were transferred to other hospitals. During the two-week closure, hospital officials attempted to find the source of the drain flies. Eventually, a company was called in to eliminate the flies, according to the report.
The operating rooms were re-opened yesterday.
