The Patient Engagement Index rates hospitals according to three measures:

•    Personal health management (50 percent of score). This measure is based on an aggregate score for hospitals that provide read-only Internet access to health information, mobile applications or interactive tools for managing ongoing health.

•    Social media engagement (25 percent of score). This measure is based on a weighted score of hospital ratings on leading social media and consumer ratings sites.

•    Patient satisfaction (25 percent of score). This measure is based on results from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey.

While Axial Exchange’s first list includes only 74 major Florida hospital systems, future rankings will include other U.S. regions, according to the news release.
